| Lights turning off for no reason My Coralife dual timer which has my MH, PC, Refugium light, and one Koralia 4 hooked up to it turns off randomly throughout the day. Yesterday it happened three times and today it happened twice! Recently the lights throughout the house have been flickering and we've had the electrical company come out to see what the problem was but they only looked at our box. I have the Coralife dual timer plugged into a GFI protector. The GFI doesn't cut the power, it's the Coralife timer that does. The built in surge protector turns from the orange color which means on to off throughout the day. I unplugged my Koralia tonight thinking there may be a short in the wires that is causing the surge protector to switch. Any ideas or advice? I'm going to leave the Koralia unplugged all of tomorrow to see if the lights turn off. It's either the Koralia since the wire goes into the water and maybe the saltwater corroded the wire and exposed it to water or the MH ballast is burning out and needs to be replaced. I thought a surge protector switches on if there is too much power going through, maybe that is being caused by the MH ballast. I have another Coralife timer hooked up to a different outlet but still on the same circuit to my heaters, skimmer pump, return pump and another Koralia 4 and that has not had a problem with turning off randomly. _________ 120 gallon mixed reef, 30 gallon refugium, two 250 watt Phoenix 14K DE metal halides in Lumenarc stealth reflectors, Two 48" T-5's in TEK II reflectors, AquaC EV-120 protein skimmer, Mag Drive 12 return pump, one Hydor Koralia 4 My tank thread

| I had one of those timer and they are not worth the money IMO. Yours may be that you have not pulled the switches back or pushed them all the way forward on the wheel. Mine done the same thing and then the second timer just quit all together and left my lights on all night. Tossed that stupid thing. _________ Scott 265g (Peninsula)

| I had the same problem. I went through 3 of those timers until I spoke with a tech. rep. from coralife. He said those timers are not made for the draw of MH's. My timers kept working, just never turn off the lights. He said the only timers that can handle MH's are the digital timers. _________ 9YR OLD 90G/55g custom sump/refug Mag18 Aquac 180skimmer 692w MH AC jr,yel&kole tang, midas&convict blenny,B&G chromies,Blk/yel fin chromie blackcap, nemo, neon goby,6line; Blastomussa Merleti,Acan ,BUBBLE,Torch,LTA, Acropora(2) Moon, assort zoas, yel& G star polyps, P&B ricordia, montiporas, cup&candy corals, xenias,B/G mush, flower ane(2), cherry red mussa, dusters, cleaning crew.. |

| I remember something about one of coralife timers being bad, dont remember which one. It was a post on here somewhere if somebody wants to research it. _________ [center]Renaming Our Corals "Believe those who are seeking the truth; doubt those who find it." Andre Gide |
