|  Lighting Dimmer Options
Guys, I read the super duper light dimmer on the home page and thought hey, that would be cool. But man, thats expensinve.
I took a quick look and found these two companies that may very well have a solution.
I did not research yet but I have emails to the companies to ask them if it is compatable and will do the two a day dim cycles. I will let you know what they say.

are you just looking for something to dim and brighten the lights? i think i have one in my garage that was not that expensive | |

Yes, Dim to off in about an hour, then dim to on in about an hour.
First, well it would be cool. Second, last last while watching them, the lights kicked off and the moon led kicked on. Well I thought the fish were just going to have a heart attack. So I wondered if a gradual on / off would be less stressful.
So a dim to on and a dim to off and optional programable plugs would be best. Kinda a timer on steroids.

If you going to use it on metal halide or incandescent probably would work, but on fluorescent or compact i am afraid not must of this lights need the right input to work properly, and if you get it to work somehow it will damage the bulbs or the ballast in no time. most bulbs that use ballast aren't intend to be dimmed, all a dimmer is a voltage regulator that slow down the flow (voltage) of the current being applied to a resistor (bulb filament) increasing the heat at the source (ballast) to my opinion this is up to the aquarists to experiment with.
