Default lighting for a 5ft sps /clam tank

hey there

i have a 1.5m x .700mm x .700mm tank and have been running 2 x 150w aqualine 13k aquamedic hailides/ 2 x 54w T5 aquamedic blues and 2 x 40w phillips aquacoral T12 actinics!!

my question is what should be sufficient for clams and sps.....

i have been told to go with 3 x 250w BLV 14k SE hailides, lumeric III type style reflectors ans 4 x T5s all (2 x actinic, 2 x 6500k rated for red /yellow spectrum).

can anyone offer some advice!!! all opinions are welcome, but i am definatley going hailide!!!

From what have read, clams need pretty intense lighting. The lighting you use now sounds pretty good to me. But going off the fact that your tank sounds like a pretty deep tank the 250's will probably be better. Especially if you plan on putting clams on the floor of the tank. I am really just speculating here as I have no hands on experience at this. So don't take my word for it. Wait until one of the clam guru's gives you some more solid information. Good luck
