I know that there is a controller out there that does complete light/moon cycles for you with your lights. It will simulate some clouds moving through, a completely cloudy day, a sunny day, and likewise a full moon cycle from new to full. These suckers are super expensive and would be awesome to have, but not possible for the average hobbyist due to cost. Is it good for fish and corals? Definitely wouldn't hurt, it's a more accurate portrayal of real life in the ocean. Is it nessesary? IMO no, not for average fish/corals/etc.

Hope I helped, don't know much about this but figured I would share what I did!
