How close can I put my lights to the water.

Ok I have T5's, they are the pendant type. i can mount them in my new 75Gal fishtank lid but they will be pretty close to the water. I don't use a chiller. I would say they would be about 2inches from the water surface. Anyone have anything to advise?

I would suggest possibly 4 maybe 5 inches.Heat isnt the only factor you are gonna be cleaning salt off your protective cover assuming there will be a protective splash cover oh so very often.

well do you have a lot of splash on the surface? I have PCs mounted 5"s above a tank and they get a lot of splash, but I have a ton of flow, my tank turns over 29 times an hour. If you dont have a lot of splash, then 2"s is fine.

i have a 100gal tank and im still useing compaq lighting but i have mine about 4 inches above the water. i have to clean the cover on the lights about once every other month. 4 or 5 inches should work good for you.

I don't have much splash. I'll shoot for the 2" and try and work it higher if a problem arises.

A 29 x per Hr turn over rate dang you must have a huge pump or a mighty small tank (:
