    If the word 'CREE' makes your ears perk, then you should definitely check out RapidLED's high performance LED kits. RapidLED was out in force at MACNA and it was hard not to get CREE fever looking at their DIY LED kits and the assembled ones cranking out serious light over tanks as shown below. Over the past year there have been many 3reefers going the DIY route with LEDs and very happy with their results. The DIY kits are not hard to put together and you sure save a lot of money over the fancy commercial products. Hmm. Makes you think.

    I love those star mounts, surface mounts are a pita.

    I'm going to have to look into leds before i go out and buy a t5 light kit for my build

    I'm gonna add this photo to this thread and mention that the par shown on the meter is from the kit Matt pictured. Also I'd like to mention that Rapid now offers pre-drilled/tapped heat sinks.

    Looks to be in the hand in the tank, I'd say about 1/2 way down, but it's an odd angle.

    Ah thanks - that is still pretty good though.. As I recall that lights were fairly suspended.
