Default Have you seen this moonlight system?

Hello everyone. I just bought some T5 retro kits from hellolights for my 30 gallon and was looking at moonlighting to complete the 24-hour cycle. I have a few questions. First of all, I know that moonlights create a cool look after the lights turn off, but do they actually benefit your reef aquarium? Also what are you guys and gals using for your moonlights (if you have them)? I was looking at Fishbowl Innovations Moon cycle controller. Tell me what you guys think. Any pictures of your setups would be great to. Thanks!!

I have a question too. Do the moonlights affect the corals? I notice my corals dont open as much the next day when I have had them on during the night. I dont have a dimmer on the moonlights, they turn on about 15 minutes before the main lights turn off. I usually start to turn them on when there is a half moon. Any opinions would be cool.

I haven't seen that moon light system. What I did see and like is this:theLebos.com - LunarTracker Basically they are the same company just one comes standard with a dimmer, while the other comes with the lunar tracker which is used to mimic the lunar cycle of the moon!
To answer your other question, YES moon lights are an important part of your reef environment. It adds another real life dimension to your tank, just as the moons lunar cycle is pertinent to our oceans and the livestock that call it home, the same holds true to our tanks. Maybe not with regards to the waves and tides, but on a smaller scale, it has to do with the spawning of fish and corals.
As you also mentioned, it is a nice switch to the intense lighting displayed on our tanks during the daylight hours, which enables you to view your tank and the inhabitants that are usually not visible during the day... It is a whole different environment at night!!!!
Hope this helps to shed some light on your questions!

my moonlights come on every night. I noticed my corals dont close up as much at night, but that is about it. They help me find hitchhickers, ,and see the cool stuff at night. I also have no idea if they help the corals, or are just for looks.

As for your question, IMO, your moonlights don't affect your corals, atleast during the daylight hours!
Does this occur everyday? Corals not opening I mean?
You may want to check your water parameters!
