Re: 75gal lighting opinions For a fish only tank I would recommend a compact flourescent fixture with the moonlights because like you I think they look neat also 
I will give you these links to look at to give you an idea of what CF's look like and about how much they cost. I am going to assume that it is a standard 75 gal tank which is 48" long. These lights are made to stand on top of the tank and really aren't designed to fit in a hood. But look around you might find something that fits into your idea of what you need.
