| Peppermint Shrimp | Hi, I was wanting a little more information about Black Mangroves. Do they have to be planted or can they just float at the surface of the water> Do they reproduce? How many is recommended for a 55 gallon aquarium? |

| Pajama Cardinal | Growing Black Mangroves 1. Placement: The propagule of the black mangrove looks like a few leaves bunched together. To get them to sprout in your aquarium, simply place them in the tank, and allow them to float. They will eventually grow hydroponically. 2. Add light strong enough to grow macroalgae, or a grow light. You can get these at home depot, or for twice the price at your LFS. 3. Heat. Mangroves like warm temperatures, try to keep them in a room that is at least 70 degrees for best results. Straight off the Reefcleaners website. Ask john how many you need. He will know better than me. _________ http://www.3reef.com/forums/show-off...ate-74217.html EQUIPMENT: 150 Gal SPS Reef, 40 Gal Sump, 30 Gal Refugium, Mag 24 Return, MJ 3000 Closed loop, Euro-Reef BBE 180 skimmer, 1250 Watts of light (don't feel like listing them) LIVESTOCK: Tomato Clown, Pajama Cardinal, Firefish, Yellow tail Blenny, Canary Blenny, Fang Blenny, Green Clown Goby, Pink Spot Goby, Green Anthias, Red Sea Purple Tang INVERTS: Coral Banded Shrimp, Cleaner Shrimp CORAL: |

| Pajama Cardinal | I have no personal experience with the blacks personally. Most of us just defer to John when it comes to macros. I do know that they will not reproduce in your system. These things don't grow popules until fairly mature. These things grow to 20+ feet in the wild. |

| 3reef Sponsor | all those methods will work, you can also just literally drop them in the fuge, they float on their own and stay, (generally) upright. But it is easier to keep them in one spot if you use the styro or egg crate methods above.... time to update that site.... i need to get on that ball one of these days. |
