Nice write Steve. I like the third picture, the fish seems to be eating off the table.

Sorry for the thread bump. But I just have to say that this is a very good thread and a very nice read. I'm thinking of making a similar one but on the reef keeping hobby in the Philippines. We have a place here very similar to Fang Cun. I've been to GuangZhou twice this year on business and visited FangCun numerous times while I was there. It was there that I first saw an achilles tang in real life, a queen angel, blue girdled angel, and a lot of other species as well. We don't get so many of those here in the Philippines. I was also surprised b the price differences between the livestocks available in China, here and in the US (the ones I see online at least). I bought a few things while I was in FangCun, some LEDs, wavemakers, and others. How I wish I could have bought livestock and sneaked them back to my country, but I couldn't. Btw Steve, a friend of mine who usually goes to GuangZhou as well, told me that there's another place in GuangZhou similar to FangCun except that the other one is mostly saltwater stores. Would you happen to know what the name of that place is? I might fly back to GuangZhou again soon. |

a thread on the hobby in the Philipines would be interesting for me to read I agree lots of variety on fish and corals available another place like Fangcun but more saltwater? I do not know it, and if you find anything out about it please drop me a PM as I would enjoy visiting an alternative venue Fangcun aquarium market has expanded in last 12 months and they now have a newer complex 200 yards down the road to accomodate over spill from original site the majority of stalls and shops on new site are freshwater but there are 2 shops that specialise in reef tanks and both of these have frags regular in addition to imported goods such as Salifert test kits, Rowa GFO, Korallia wave makers - genuine, Tunze turbelles , and Pries additives (Calc Mag, alk etc designed for use with the balling method predominantly) | |
