Default Turning aquaC into an in-sump skimmer?

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if it was possible to turn am AquaC Remora into a in sump design by just lengthening the intake tube from the pump? Making it look similar to its cousin, the Urchin?

Would there be something different with the height that the pump pumps water? or the injection nozzle?

Just thought about it, cause i'm building a sump and i already own the remora, and was just wondering if it would be possible, instead of buying one that goes in the sump...

Thanks!!

Equipment: 29G tank/AquaC Remora Skimmer/ Whisper 30 Filter (running Phosban)/ 100W Heater/4x36W T5HO lights 2x 10,000K daylights, 2x 460nm actinics/Hydor Koralia 1 PH/ 20lbs LR (more on the way)

Livestock: 1 six-line wrasse, 1 percula clownfish, various hermits and one very hungry emerald mithrax crab and one Lonely Tree Coral (Lemnalia)

I own a aquaC and when I first read the subject of this post, that is what I thought you could do. I dont see how it would negatively affect it. If you sump is tall enough, you could also just hang it on the side of it. What kind of pump are you using?

I ran the Remora Pro in my sump under a 75gal tank. Just got a longer tube and hooked it up to a mag drive 5.

Update: 36 Gallon Bow Front Reef Tank Project

See page 3.

I cemented some acrylic legs to mine to stabilize the skimmer in the sump. So far, so good.

Im still running it on a MJ1200, I am planning on designing/building a new collection cup with wider taller riser pipe and running a much larger pump!
