Default Skimmer for my sump/fuge

Anyone have any experience with the Turbo Classic?

Berlin Turbo Protein Skimmers

Thinking about ordering this for my DIY sump/fuge.

Found a tank also for $70! 12" wide x 30" long x 16" deep. Will fit under my display tank perfectly. :O)

Buy some acrylic and some sealant and I'll be rolling. !! Woot!

Marty, if it's a glass tank you can't glue acrylic to it very efficiently, have to use cut glass on glass tanks and acrylic on acrylic tanks, you can try to silicone acrylic into place and it'll hold for a while but it'll eventually fail and have to be redone

I was planning on superglueing it into place then sealing around the edges. Will that work ok?

The Berlins aren't worth it IME. Money would be better spent with an Octopus or even a Euro-Reef.

The Berlins use a design that doesn't lend itself to mordern skimming knowledge. Many people use them. But I have had many people who had them get much better results switching to a better design.

I think the problem is in the reaction chamber size. I think all that tube buisness they run to increase contact time limits the amount of water that can come into contact with the bubbles. The idea makes sense if the skimmer was larger. As the counter current method probably yields the most effiecent skimmer.

Already pulled the trigger on it. I think I'm going to keep my Prizm running upstairs and the Berlin will run in my sump. I think I might be ok with that. Thanks for the info.

I should be getting it via fedex in a day or so. :O)
