Skimmer capacity??

i have a 55 gallon tank but i am outfitting to be able to move up to a 75. how does one figure out what size skimmer is efficient enough for a 75?? i will be building a wet/dry or refugium from a 15 tall, and want one that works in the sump.i'm on a budget, but will not let price get in the way of the best for the buck equipment. i would appreciate advice as to which model would meet this criteria??

I would do the sump / refugium. You don't need the bio balls (wet/dry) anymore and would get a 20 gallon tank and section it off.

The skimmers are all made to fit the size of tank you have. When looking for a skimmer they will have it listed for a 70 to 100 gallon tank etc.. so you know which one you will need to purchase.

thanks for info, i have a question about refugium and sump size. i built my stand myself without forethought of needing space below for filtering equipment (it is a freshwater tank) so all i can fit, due to the partitions is a 15 tall, will that suffice, or should i split between two tanks, one being the 10 gal refugium cubby, and another being a 10 gal sump cubby??

Hummm for just a sump?
If is has enough room for your simmer and pump for the tank I don't see an issue.
As far as making it a refug and sump it may be really tight.
