| To skim or not to skim I have a 20 gal tall tank, with a 10 gal sump/refugiums. I plan to make my main tank a half and half tank. My question is should I get a protein skimmer? If so what is a good size to get? (at some point I plan to get a clam or two also) |

| I personally dont skim as i only have a 30 gallon and no sump, and i think skimmers are big ugly and noisy, and without a secret tank and cupboard to hide it i would end up throwing it in the canal that runs just below my balcony.
But if you have a sump go for it. Go for one that exceeds that cap of your tank _________ You will never know whats in my tank as i can only type 15 words |

Very simple to do with that size tank.
I personally would not bother with skimmer.
Ability to keep clam entirely depends on lights. If adequate get smaller variety clam so does not over grow tank quickly.
Have fun! _________ AG "125," AquaC EV 180, 30 gal sump, "SCWD", 80 lbs LR, CoralSeaLife "Moonlite" Hood, PFO 250W HQI Mini-Pendant (SPS HQI 14000k bulb)
12 Gallon NanoCube - 24w stock PC 50/50 light "...nothing good ever happens fast in a reef tank, only bad things happen fast..."
