Default skilter 400 information

I recently aquired a skilter 400 filter/skimmer combo. It will be used on a 55 gal. which is home to a 14" bamboo shark and a stone fish, and of course the crabs and snails. Will this be an adiquate unit? It is used in conjuntion with emperor bio-wheel filter. There are only 2 fish in the tank and no live corals, only rock due to the destructive nature of the fish.

I have 3 Skilter's--in my attic! They suck. Remove little organic material, and you'll lose your mind tring to properly adjust air flow.

No this "so called skimmer" will not be adequate for your application. I like many others wasted my money on one of this about 6 or 7 years ago before i knew better.

Although the Prism gives it a run for the money, nothing is louder or more useless (IMO) than the Skilter. I bought one many a moon ago. Wish I bought beer instead.

yes, i agree skilters are the worst thing in reefdom since ummmm errrrrr ummmmm well i guess they are the all time worst thing in reefdom ever. however, they can be made a little better by drilling a hole straight down through the top and placing a wooden airstone to the bottom of the skilter useing a good strong air pump they can at least be made to work better. it would be best to replace it but the above will at least make it work some.
