Default setting up my skimmer?

i bought an odyssea ps75 protein skimmer. i know it sucks but i'm upgrading very soon. this is my first attempt at protein skimming and i would just like some input. the skimmer is in my sump where the overflow comes in. where should the water level be in the sump and also where should it be in the skimmer?? help is appreciated!!!

The water level in the sump should be as high as can be without overflowing the sump when the pumps are off. Something to experiment with.

Water levels in skimmers typically stop around or in the funnel that goes to the collection cup.
