seaclone modification results

well guys i have great news. for the riser tube alter seaclone must have starting using super glue. i messed with that darn thing for a while and couldnt get it to break loose. but for the air in take i took out that cheap black flow controller and added a real nice industrial air damper, which has percision adjustments far beyond that stock hunk of junk. all i did was open the intake full blast and then decrease the air allowed untill the splashing reached the riser tube for the collection cup. (INSTANTLY) NICE UGLY FOAM started flowing into the collection cup and the micro bubbles were gone. let that rest over night in the morning i had to empty the cup. after i put the cup back on the damper needed to be adjusted again. that took another 30 seconds but very easy to dial in. i think that new bioload line of crap is bull. my tank is one week old and that foam looked pretty nasty.
i am now very pleased with my seaclone. and will most likely stick to it for a while. you have any questions let me know ill be glad to raise your hopes on this fine skimmer.

 

Mine works well sans adjustments. It's a stock model.

no i couldnt, the riser on the inside wouldnt come out. that was probally for the best. since a $10 flow control did the trick

 

can one of ya'll pleaseeeee!! post a picture of your air flow mod..

I have a seaclone125 in-sump model...and Ill sure try the mod!!!

any ideas about this: Even with my stock air flow control removed, with or with the air-inlet tube, (completely open), I barely seem to get enough bubbles to rise the foam in the cup. Im getting alot of brown stuff (diatoms, I think), but it doesn't seem to be very foamy???? and its been at least 2 weeks its been running....


Any suggestions??

And Craig, what do you mean sans adjustments?? is that another mod or way to adjust the seaclone???

you have to start with air intake wide open then slowly turn the flow control to lessen the air intake. youll see the clear bubbles start to rise slowly to the collection cup. once the clear bubbles reach the collector stop and wait an hour or two. it will slowly start to rise the riser tube. if not turn the air intake down an 1/8 turn wait an hour or two. that should slowly give you an idea where to leave the flow control.

 

A picture or a link to the air flow control would be grand!
