return skimmer to bio tower?

i have an asm g2 skimmer...would like to hook it up for direct feed from my overflow box, use the recirculating/gate valve mod, then run a flex line from the skimmer return to the top of my bio tower. That way only skimmed water runs into the bio balls..hopefully keeping them cleaner.

is there a problem with this?

will there be enough pressure coming out of the skimmer return to pump it up the 2 or so feet to the top of the bio tower?

It could cause to much back pressure on the skimmers outlet ? But I have never had any problems with Bio media getting dirty myself. Maybe if that is the case you can add a pre-filter sponge to the drain pipe inlet to the sump from the tank..?
