| Remora microbubbles I have read another thread on this forum regarding this but it dosen't make too much sense to me or maybe i am not following instructions correctly. I don't want to buy the preskimmer for it because i have a 20 gallon tank and do not want to clutter up my tank with that huge box. Someone on this forum stated you can stuff a piece of foam in the right side of the skimmer and that will block the bubbles. I tried this but it did not work. Does anyone know how to solve this problem. Does the foam have to cover the entire hole on the right side to stop it or just where the water exit's the skimmer.
If someone has figured this one out, let me know so i can stop these bubbles.
Thanks

| How long have you had the skimmer running? What size and kind of pump are you running the remora with?
I have the remora and never had any problems with micro bubbles. I'm using the Maxi-Jet 1200 on my 75 gallon reef tank. _________ 125gal.w/Mag9.5 return(dual megaflow)>Mag7 pump Aqua Cev180skimmer.Wave2k Hamilton Reefstar(2)250watthqi(mh)pend.a Yellow, Naso Tang Red Lip Blenny Percula Clown Demoiselles Niger Trigger F. | I'm in the same boat as you, John. I have a Remora running on my 20 and after nearly 2 months I still have microbubbles. I tried the foam block in the outflow, but with no luck. Unsure about the prefilter (in addition to taking up space I heard that they can run dry) I finally send an email off to the guys at AquaC. Great customer service. They asked if I was using any water conditioners or additives. When I told him that I was using good ole Stress Coat since I haven't sprung for the RO system yet he said: "The Stress Coat is most definitely a cause of microbubbles with our skimmers - we recommend using products without "slime coating" agents, such as Amquel, Ammo Lock, Dechlor, etc."
Sooooo, I just ordered some Amquel and we'll see how that goes. I haven't seen any ill effects on my limited livestock due to the bubbles, but they do drive me crazy. Good luck with your tank and if you find any answers or have any more questions please let us know!

| As times goes on the bubbles will get less and less as the skimmer and tank matures. You can always build a small bubble trap of your own. I built one for my skimmer. I used acryllic sheets and suction cups bought at petsmart and used a piece of foam from an aquaclear filter. My trap was less than 1/2 the size of AquaC's. If I still had it I would send it to you. _________ 75g reef with Nova Extreme 8 bulb HO T-5 lighting, refuge, Remora skimmer, DSB, Seio powerheads, Acro's, LPS corals, assorted zoo's & mushrooms, Yellow Tang, Maroon Clown, Blue Cleaner Goby , Cleaner, Fire and Sexy Shrimp, Coco Worm, T.Crocea Clam, Derasa Clam

-E- | Hey Pisces23, I know this thread is so old... but can you (or anyone) tell me if using other dechlorinators besides API Stress Coat without "slime coating" agents helps get rid of microbubbles? I'm experiencing the same thing with my AquaC remora with Maxi Jet. I just would like to get some confirmation before spending more money.
I'm actually still in my "Break in" period so I'll give it some time, but I'm thinking long term here. |

| I never had an probs with either of my remora or remora pro skimmers but i had the overflow box. I would buy the overflow box tho, its not that big and it sure does eliminate surface scum. |
