Default REMORA or BAKPAK

I have a CoraLife skimmer, I barely installed it today on a 2 week old tank. I'm waiting for it to break-in. I have posted about it asking suggestions and all. Once I get the repplies, and once the break-in period is done, I will make a final judgment on the unit and decide wether to keep it or not.

Now, if I have to replace the unit, I want to get either the BakPak or the Remora...if any of you have used either unit, please tell me what your experience has been like. Those how have used/are still using the BakPak, how is it? and those how have used/are still using the Remora, how is it?

I appreciate your help. Laters.

I have the Remora and it is doing an excellent job. It took about a week for break-in. I get a full cup every 36 hours. I am skimming pretty aggresively with it. The water is very dark brown, very nasty.

I had a Remora on my old 55g and loved it. If you are just starting your tank you don't need a skimmer running yet...what is there to skim??? Unless you have put some nasty LR in there I would shut the skimmer off until the tank is between 4 to 6 months old. You are taking out elements needed to grow coralline. But hey it's your tank and others will tell you that you need it..
Just my $.02

I will agree with everyone here.....I have one and I love it! I have also used the BAK PAK and it does a real good job, but is allot more noisy. So noisy from the venturi that I only ran it at night when we were not in the room. My bio load was low so I could do this, but as it grew I went upt to the Remora....really made a difference. A little more pricey, but worth it.....

Got my Remora today....after long debating I got it...and all I can say is WOW..and Thank You for recomending such great unit. It's skimming already! the amount of microbubbles dumped back into the tank is close to nothing during the break-in period. A bit noisy, but the intructions tell me it'll go away. My tank's been cycling for 3 1/2 weeks now...I'll let you guys know how things turn out. Thanks again.

I don't use either but I got rid of my Coralife 125 after only a few weeks. It never really worked well plus trying to keep up on minimizing the microbubbles was a chore in itself. I am using the Tunze 9010 and absolutely love the efficiency and ease of use.

lol bakpaks ALWAYS leak and its always from the same place. The seal on the return is crap, if you leave it how it is from the factory, expect a flood. I lost 30g of water in a 12hr period, would have lost more if the water hadnt reach the pump for the bakpak and quit pumping.
