Default Need help with ASM G-3 Skimmer

I just bought a ASM G-3 skimmer. No instructions came with the thing (bought it from an on-line vendor). The collection cup fills with water no matter where I set the adjustable tube (up or down). Maybe the water in my sump is too deep. Question: What is the max depth of the sump water for this thing to work right?
Thanks for your help.

Not sure if there is a max depth written anywhere.

There is a forum on the ASM web site
http://www.asmskimmer.com/phpBB2/index.php

How high is your water verses the skimmer

Thanks for the help. We lowered the water to just below the start of the cone and it seems to be working fine. I think it can be deeper than 8" but not above the top of the start of the cone.

I built a new sump that overflows into a old 40 gal aquarium - now refugium. What plants are best and where can I order them - my local aquarium store has not salt water plants.

Thanks again for the assistance.

There is a lot of Macro Algea (SW Plants) out there.
Are you going to light it 24/7. If not stay away from calerpa
but some good nitrate exporters are Cheto, Mastophora, Amphiroa, Mangroves

I can light it 24/7 but had planned to light it at night when the tank is dark (to offset the pH changes caused when the tank does goes dark at night). What is best??

Again thanks for the help

(Any recommendations on where to order plants??)

DMCOR,

I have a ASM-g3 also if you have any question like post shot me a PM and i will be glad to help. Have you done the waste gate mod yet. Best thing i have done.

Max depth is 12" no more best depth is just above the input of the pump which is about 8". Are you going for a wet or dry skim. I have found that a dry skim has been the best in my 90 gal reef tank.

Good choice on skimmer oh and mirco bubbles dont worry they go away when the slim builds up on the inside of the skimmer.
