| HELP! Typhoon hang on skimmer Okay, i am new to protein skimmer informationa nd im sure my question is a dumbone.. but i have the typhoon hang on protein skimmer... i just got it, and i assembled it.. the assembly is correct.. but at the top of the skimmer.. there is no collection cup and there are NO bubbles or foam.. i turn it on and the pump just shoots water from the bottom of the tube to the top and it shoots out through a black spout???? from the directions and the only information i can find.. i am supposed to attach a hose to that spout and connect it with a milg jug or something to colect waste.. BUT it is just shooting out water.. ?? im supposed to just let my water go into a milk jug and then throw it away?? i dont think so! what the hell is the deal.. there is no information that helps.. all it says on drsfostersmith is to start with the valve completely opn then slowly close it while the skimmer is running......... it doesnt make ANY difference in pump power or water flow!!!!! this SUCKS ASS i am so angry right now i just want to go outside, put the skimmer in my driveway and run it over.. when i get more money i will buy something that comes with ALL parts and doesnt drain into a stupid jug.. that it retarded.. i thought it would have a collectoin cup or something! anyway.. how the hell to i get foam out of this stupid thing.. please help me befor ei go INSANE!!!! |

| Typhoon Hang on protein skimmer problems I just got this same skimmer monday. I am having the same problem, but I set mine up different. I put a 3/4 inch valve on the return and with 3/4 tubing I drilled a hole and ran it in the top of my emperor 400 above gravel filter via a 90degree 3/4 inch elbow. I noticed if I raised the skimmer up it worked right so I am going to try to mount the skimmer to my wall tonight.
I mounted it to the wall now and I can adjust the water accordingly, but I don't have any foam everyone talks about. It lookls like a can of sprite with fizz or something, but this skimmer seems to be crap. I am going to contact the manufacture.

| Does the venturi valve on the air inlet hose have an adjustment. I am not certain, but if there is, and the venturi valve is closed, there would be no bubbles formed. Just a guess....

| Typhoon hang on skimmer Alright, I give up. I added an air pump to the venturi and the thing still didn't produce any real foam. I talked to the manufacturer for weeks and gave up when they wanted me to put a few drops of stress coat in front of the intake to verify a reaction. I was done trying to prove it didn't work. I contacted drsfostersmith.com and they are letting me send it back for a refund. I am out the shippong, but I am not out the $80.00. Maybe it was my mod, (doubtfully) but that typhoon hang on skimmer sucks! |

| Help Ever get the process worked out to make this thing work correctly without water shooting straight out the waste outlet line? Also, the venturi tube broke on this thing, any idea's on replacement parts for this? |
