Fission Nano Skimmer

I just started up a 10G nano.

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this nano skimmer.
I was also looking for ideas of fish/coral, inverts for a 10G tank.
Any other suggestions always welcome

Dont do it. It is actually more harmful to run a skimmer on a nano tank

Some people swear by them. Most swear at them!!! If you want a skimmer, get yourself a Bak Pak 2 or AquaC.
I'd get rid of the cc & replace with sand. The cc will only cause you trouble down the road.
For fish you're limited to smaller ones like clowns, firefish, clown goby, chromis. Stay away from damsels since they will end up being aggressive to tother tank mates.
Corals - you could look at mushrooms, zoas, green star polyps for starters.

Thanks for the help. I will stay away from using a skimmer. ( less things to clean and keep track of)

I am interested in knowing what could go wrong with CC versus sand?

I was also looking to see what others have in there nano's.

I am really looking forward for this nano experience as I have a 55G tank.

CC has a large particle size which will allow detritus to collect in it which in turn will lead to high nitrates which in turn will lead to algae blooms & other undesirable things happening. Sand looks so much better as well.

Sry for a VERY delayed response. I am using chemipure temporarily in the 3rd chamber w/ the pump to battle cyano.

In the 1st chamber I have cheato and some feather caulerpa with a 10W "fountain light" over it. In the middle chamber I've got LR rubble stacked to the top and my heater.

Oh BTW, I'd look into SRS (i believe) adjustable surface skimmer. Better than the JBJs because you can mount it then adjust it when needbe.

I'd look into removing the CC slowly and using sand

well the skimmer works decent when it is working... the skimmer uses these little sponge disks to filter out the micro bubbles so once you have everything set it skims well for a day or 2 then the water level rises and floods the collection cup because the foam discs get to dirty and the water doesn't flow out as fast. so if you have an infinite supply of the little disks then go for it if not don't waste your time, just do more frequent water changes.

I use skimmers (aquac remora on my 20H and lee's skimmer on my modded 5.5g). I am in the process of building a DIY skimmer for the 3rd reef (5.5g)

Normally on a nano, you can get away with religeous water changes - I choose to use the skimmers 1) b/c I'm lazy and typically go 9 or so days b/t water changes and 2) both of my 5.5g's have mantis in them and they can be dirty eaters (leftover food and caches of hidden food).

Mantids are a different story entirely! IMO you'd be stupid not to skim and rely on LR and waterchanges. The chance of a dead snail decaying because the mantis thought it would be fun to crack open and not eat is NOT worth it.

But for a 'reef' system theoretically in a nano you are doing more harm by removing nutrients than good.

^That being said, I have a fusion and I run it with the LED nightlights for about 2 days every other week or every 3rd week. <Depends on if I feel like screwing with the pump.

was just looking at his tank profile - In his case, I would suggest that he run a skimmer - The crushed coral substrate is going to result in higher nutrient and nitrate buildup than it would had there been LS only.
