| I trust the sterilizer more. Ozone will zap everything and I mean... EVERYTHING. I've also read on toxic ozone levels, might affect fish. Wears out rubber gasket parts... definetly do your homework on Ozone and see if it's something you want for sure.

| To run an effective sterilizer, you need to polish the water before it enters the sterilizer, be sure to have the proper flow, replace the bulb every 6 months, and it may work optimally then.
There is hazard to ozone, as there is hazard to kalk, calcium reactors, too much lighting, too much/little salt, etc. I don't know anyone personally that has nuked a tank due to ozone use. I know many that like it.
As with anything in this hobby, there are pros and cons. I like, and prefer ozone. JMHO |

| This is a little off subject but does anyone know anything about a MORE-ZON 30? I just bought a used 70 gallon aquarium (# 3 and counting) and the gentlemen that I bought it off of gave me a UV sterilizer and a MORE-ZON 30 but I have been unable to find any detailed information on upkeep, how to run it(i.e. bubble it, on a power head, etc.), or how long to run it. I ask.com'ed it but have not found any good information. Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Dustin

| Ozone
Ozone is a trace constituent of the atmosphere which is naturally produced by the ultraviolet rays from the sun. Ozone is an unstable blue gas with a very distinctive odor that is easy to recognize, and in low levels makes the air smell fresh and its color makes the sky blue.
It’s also second only in strength to strongest oxidizer known . The only thing that will oxidize water more is Chlorine
Also The Natural O3 concentration levels near sea level in the U.S, is on average about 0.03 to 0.05 ppm, as stated by the EPA. This level occurs freely in nature and plays an important role in the environment.
The 03 levels can be higher in the mountains and northern parts of the country. Ozone is also formed during thunder and lighting storms. The origin or process used for the production of ozone is by passing air or oxygen across an ultraviolet light, or a cold corona spark. Natural Ozone can not be produced without the presence of Oxygen
For what its worth I have ran Ozone since 1970 and it’s never caused a problem It was in the last 15 yrs or so I ever heard of the killing fish and peeling the skin from them. I guess it could be done if the unit was large enough an every precaution was not applied? But once 03 is exposed to the atmosphere and bubled and or passed through carbon it totally reverts back to 02 in the time it takes the bubble to burst or in the time the trip for the water through the carbon.
I first started to hear of this killing effect about the time the U/V’s where about to debut Huum and all the U/V add where saying this .. Things that make you say huuum ?
I have had so many people to add ozone to their systems since the net has brought us all together I can’t even recall. But I have not had one to say their tanks where not better for the addition of the ozone.
One guy comes to mind LOL a California guy he procrastinated and did research and read and though it over for the better part of 2 yrs well after many from that board had theirs up and running . Well he finally did and a month later he was saying he wished he had added it far sooner. He was and is a deep thinker LOL { Joe or Jamie if you read this LOL}
I used to test for free ozone and after several kits and yrs and never finding any free 03 in the systems I stopped buying the kits.
Oh did I mention I use and like ozone . (:
