| coralife needle wheel Hello, I was just wondering if it is normal for the coralife superskimmer to whistle. It is not that loud but it seems that it would not be that hard for coralife to create a better system to stop it. It is brand new so maybe it will stop, i dont know. Perhaps mine is not adjusted right or defective, once again I dont know.. Anyone out there have a coralife superskimmer? _________ "Commit it to the flames: For it can contain nothing but sophistry and illusion" -Hume

| Send a PM to Covey - he was playing around with that skimmer last year.
Can you do something with floss? I use aquarium floss for everything! |

| Mine doesn't whistle. I have to clean out the airline every now and then. but the most I hear is a little gurgling.

| No whistling here. Is it set up as a HOB or in-sump? Checked where the airline attaches to the pump, might not be attached firmly enough (just a guess).

| Right now my tank is filled halfway while I am cycling it, Im afraid of the skimmer flooding my house or something like that. So my tank is kind of a deep sump. Later I will fill it the rest of the way. As far as I can tell, I followed the directions for how hight the waterline should be above the pump etc. I hope it is just a problem that will go away as I use the pump more. Well find out.
Right now i have the micro-bubble difuser stuffed with styrafoam and the air intake is cramed in there to muffle the whistling. Is it that important to have the micro-bubble difuser? Right now I have to go back to work. Perhaps when I come home tonight I will fiddle around with it and see what happens. Thanks for your help. |

| Didn't yours come with the gray air silenter? The only thing on the skimmer that would whistle would be the venturi on the intake to the pump. I would check that to make sure there isn't any packing styrofoam or plastic in it. |

| Hello covey, Matt Rogers suggested that I reached you and my internet connection crashed right before I could. Yeah, it is definitely my intake line. The grey intake valve. It almost sounds like there is water that is whistling in it, but i would have thought that in over 24 hours it would have evaporated by now.. Im pretty sure there is no styrofoam stuck in it. Ill just fiddle with it and give it some time. It is really annoying. If it continues I will contact you again for some advice. Thanks..
Do I need to worry about using the micro bubble difuser?

| Ill second that, no need for the bubble diffuser in the sump.
Take that gray canister out for a while, leave it upside down to get the water out of it, you don't want that. You may also wish to use some centripetal force to get that water out too. Using that little valve, my css220 is undetectable in terms of sound. Quote:
