| IMO Octopus are about as good as they get for the money. And they rival many of the very expensive models. It's about time someone manufactured a skimmer that wasn't expensive. The berlin? Thumbs down. Especially over the Octo... If you inherited one, or were getting one used that was dirt cheap, then I'd say go for it... But brand new for the same money definitely Octopus.
So yeah I vote for octopus.

| Many of the Better skimmer have similar pumps HI,
I was looking long and hard at the Octapus skimmer motor and bubble generator as a replacement mod for a coral life skimmer I have,
I am very pleased with the Octapus skimmer motor and their bubble generator they use is a clone of the premier skimmer .
So I say go for octapus be sure its a sump model any problems with skimmer are best dealt with in the sump, Bubble tunning can lead to flooding if your not home when the water level changes a inch or 2.
Yikes.
I use a 20 gal tall tank ,for the skimmer with a simple overflow and return.
Hey if you flood the house how much does that cost.

| Go for the Octo. Great skimmer built with real cell cast acrylic just like the expensive brands. One thing I would plan on doing is the gate valve mod to get rid of the standpipe. The new ones with the bubble plates are really nice. If I didn't build skimmers I would buy one for myself.
