| Aqua C Remora I just got a new skimmer with Maxi-jet 1200. My DH hooked it up for me but I am not sure if he put the PH on right. (he is not very good at putting things together )
Could someone please post a pic of what it should look like in my tank. I would feel so much better if I knew he did do it "Right" just this one time
thanks |

| Zissou, try upgrading the pump to a mag 3 or Rio1400+ and your will see a big improvement in the amout of skimmate produced. The Maxijet is 295gph vs 350 and 425gph for the other 2 pumps. I swithched over to the Rio when I upgraded my reef tank from a 30g to 75g and it made a big difference. I kept me from having to upgrade the skimmer. |

| I read some where that by having a good skimmer like the Aqua C Remora that you could extend your water change periods/quantity? does that make sense?

| Yes, anything to help with water parameters and keeping waste out of your tank. Aside from say lr and ls, it is the most critical and crucial part of your filtration-think about it. You can never have enough fractionation to keep your water clean. _________ 125gal.w/Mag9.5 return(dual megaflow)>Mag7 pump Aqua Cev180skimmer.Wave2k Hamilton Reefstar(2)250watthqi(mh)pend.a Yellow, Naso Tang Red Lip Blenny Percula Clown Demoiselles Niger Trigger F. Right on, I was actually trying to ask that if by having a protein skimmer I could get away by changing 15% percent of the water every 2 weeks instead of 25% to save a little on water changes. I am considering buying my own RO filter to mix my own water in the near future. |

| Yes! definitely. As I stated in another post, it is better to do a water change of say 10% each week then to do say 30% every 2-4 weeks. |
