I own 2 remora skimmers. They need a few weeks to break in before they stop dumping bubbles into the tank. Also they will become more quiet when they break in. You need to lower the collection cup till you start producing foam. I started out with my cups raised only half way. If this is a new tank set up then the skimmer may not produce anything for several weeks. To keep the Remora's in peak production you must keep the riser tube in the collection cup clean. I clean mine twice weekly when I empty the cup. I also give the skimmer and spray nozzle a good power wash cleaning with a hose every 3-4 months.
As far as the noise is concerned, lowering the collection cup will help some. You can also cut a piece of plastic or plexiglass an place it over the discharge spout cut out about 1/2 way down and this will also decrease the noise considerably.
At some point in time you might want to consider upgrading the pump to a Rio 1100 or 1400 plus pump. The 1400 is 420gph vs 296 for the MJ1200. My Remora makes a lot more thick brown foam with this pump. I use a Rio 1700 at 650gph on my Remora Pro and this has also dramatically increased it's efficiency. _________ 75g reef with Nova Extreme 8 bulb HO T-5 lighting, refuge, Remora skimmer, DSB, Seio powerheads, Acro's, LPS corals, assorted zoo's & mushrooms, Yellow Tang, Maroon Clown, Blue Cleaner Goby , Cleaner, Fire and Sexy Shrimp, Coco Worm, T.Crocea Clam, Derasa Clam
