Hi madreefer!

I'm not very knowledgable on the subject, however you did say anyone! I do have an Aqua C EV 180 that I use for my 120 gl. I don't know about not using a sump. I just assumed that you had to have one and not for sure but I was thinking that the 180 was to be used with a sump. The sump does not have to be large. Mine is only 14 gls. It seems to work very well and rarely needs any adjustment. From what I've read, many skimmers constantly need to be tweeked. I have an existing tank that already had everything including the skimmer. The previous owner was pretty meticulous and did research skimmers before the purchase. He was extremely pleased with it. Other reviews that I've seen on it have been good.

Hope this helps some,
Cindy

I 2nd Nugio...I also have the AquaC 180...I just don't know what more can be asked from a skimmer...

Don't go "small", will save you $$$ in long run if you want to move to a larger tank (who here would not if they could? - )

I would just like to suggest considering getting the AquaC overflow container also...a great investment for keeping spouse and family happy (esp. one with a very "sensitive" arabic nose)....
