Has anyone heard or used this type of filter???

Yeah they have been around for a while. They are good as supplemental filters, but are not sufficient as the main filter with saltwater. Micron filters like this are good at polishing the water when it is really dirty.

Definately. When I worked in a lfs, we used to throw these these types or a magnum on when we were stirring things up.

Wow, and I thought everyone had forgotten about Diatom filters....I have had one for probably about 20 years, yup same one, I use it a few times per year in my freshwater tanks, great for that extra cleaning and polishing!
