Default SEIO Super Flow Pump

SEIO Super Flow Pump

Ok, this is the coolest looking thing RIO / TAAM has done in a while, seems to be more like the Tunze stream than anything else. I would love to hear any reports on this! *[smiley=yaknow.gif]

Nice very nice. Wonder if they are as good as Tunze streams. Good price

Default Re: SEIO Super Flow Pump

Bought 2 a week after MarineDepot started carrying them (price and wattage too low to ignore). Noticed an occasional rattle right away with one of them. After two months my GFCI outlet triggered and noticed that the pump had stopped working. Checking it the impeller had separated from the magnetic core (I've had two other RIOs go bad with worn shafts just a few months olds).

Overall, I expected to "see" greater water movement. While a Rio 2500 will push water around 2/3 around my 93 gal corner the flow drops off dramatically with the SEIO the farther you get from it. So much so that it doesn't seem to have any affect beyond one side.

I will definitely save up for the Tunze or similar. Even considering the low price the SEIO quality is cause for concern-I hope the other one doesn't fail on me...

Thanks for the info. Sounds like the usual Rio complaints.

I guess my Rio 3100 is a fluke. I haven't had a problem with it for 5 years. Right now it's in my fowlr. After all this time, it is still quite and starts every time I turn it on. I do clean it out about every 6 months or so. Now that I've said this, darn thing will probably go out tonight. [smiley=laugh4.gif]

Never had Rio before this SEIO 860. Overall I thought it was a good deal (Tunze like but cheaper), until I hooked it to a RedSea Wavemaster Pro. When the darn thing starts up, it rattles for a second. The losseness of the shaft/empellar is the problem. And with the wavemasters constant on/off cycling, I don't think this pump will be desirable for those users. Too bad. Good idea...bad details. Back to Maxi-jets.

I have a Seio 620 and wrote an initial review last week. *Mine starts up with no rattle and pushes water 3/4 across my 120g 60" tank. *These pumps were not made for on off applications like wave makers. *The flow does not seem that great because the nozzle the water comes out of is large-therefore less water pressure but still moving alot of water. I believe it is still moving 600gph. *If you take off the directional nozzle you will get a little more powerful stream. The pump seems very well made and has a novel flow adjustment so you can dial down the GPH. *I also just purchased the new Rio 1400plus pump. *It replaced my older 1400 pump and is very quiet and more powerful. *It starts and stop right away without noise. *For anyone interested VIA AQUA PUMPS are not bad, *I have a VA1300 rated at 367gph at ~28w.
It has been reliable for a powerhead and did a decent job on my Remora Pro skimmer. The VA305 is 315gph at 18watts and comes with a grounded power cord. *I will keep you posted on how well the 2 new Rio pumps perform and hold up!
