I have been using my SQWD for about 3.5 months now and it has worked great so far. The only isue I had was the inlet keept having a very slight leak at first and I could not seem to get the hose tight enough on there even with two hose clamps, but after a few days it stopped. I think if it happens to fail soon I will just remove it and go without it cause I my Wave2K provides plently of random current for my needs at the moment.

Shawn I'd love it if you could start a new thread about your Wave2k with any pics and info. I really thought those were neat. I'd be curious to read more about it.

I got my SCWD about a week ago. I think they are great nice water movement and it really didn't kill the flow all that much. Pet Solutions had them on sale for $29. So I am not out much if it jams. Mine is working great now I am even thinking of getting a second one and running it closed loop.

Well I finally broke down and bought a SCWD last week. I got it home, installed it, and turned on my pump. It switched once and stopped. I was so pissed off you would not believe. I have been hesitating buying one for months because of problems people have had. I exchanged it for another one and it seems to be working fine for now. The alternating currents are cool but I already have a Wave Master Pro on the tank which is a lot nicer.

I'm going to be setting up a 50 gal soon and will probably go with a Wave2k.

I noticed my SCWD had failed last week in my Closed loop. I stupidly installed the SCWD at the back of the tank prior to moving it into place and filling it. So I have no access to it at all. So another power head later my flow is back but I have disconnected the pump to my Closed loop and will have to tear down the tank to fix it.

Knock on wood, my SCWD is still going strong after 6 months or so. Mine is at the back of my tank, but I do have access to it. I did take it all apart a few weeks ago to give it a good cleaning. Hope you can get to yours instead of tearing everything apart.....

You might want to think about getting a couple of powerheads and place them on auto timers, alternating the times that they come on. It's not quite the same effect but it will vary the water movement.

Does anyone have any exprience with the SeaSwirl Wavemaker- MarineDepot.com or
the Flo Rotating Deflector at Dr. Foster and Smith.com ?
They look like interesting devices for alternating flows. The Flo Rotating Deflector attaches to a power head and is only $12.99. I was thinking about giving it a try.
