Default Plant Tank

When doing a water change in a planted tank, is it necessary to vaccuum the bottom or do the plants take care of that ? I just don't want to disturb the plants anymore than I have to.

I had a planted tank and I did vacuum. I had numerous plants, such as banana plants etc...I treated it the same as i did before i planted plants...

Yea the fish poop still gathers there whether there are plants or not. The plants don't consume that stuff and so it is still necessary to vacuum your gravel when doing a change. But you should be able to mostly vacuum AROUND the plants and not disturb them much. Besides a little disturbance to them isn't the same as disturbing live corals for example. They don't react the same and so should be perfectly fine.
