    Hi mati_L,

Yes, we have thoroughly tested our lights with great results, over several reef aquarium configurations, including aquariums with a 22" depth / height, such as the 72 Gallon Bow Front. PAR is equivalent to a 250 watt Metal Halide. However with our lights, you don't get the high heat factor, the noisy fans, the blown out ballasts, and you won't have to worry about those worn out T5 Lamps, or worn out Power Compact Lamps, or worn out Metal Halide Lamps, that all need to be replaced annually and/or bi-annually, and are so fragile that sometimes when you go to replace them they crack, or that accidentally crack in transit, if ordered from an online store.

The CREE Brand Light Emitting Diodes are guaranteed to last over 5 years, which is over 50,000 hours of usage. The light also comes with a 3 year warranty. Plus, since we just introduced these lights within the past couple of months, we'll give you 15 days to fully try the light, and if you don't like it, we'll give you a full refund of your original purchase price. However, we believe if you purchased one, that you'd definitely love it! We have already sold almost our entire production inventory, mainly to our local California customers, that have had nothing put positive feedback to give our lights.

Other beneficial factors include the savings on your electricity bill. If you compare our lights to lets say the Hagen 48" T5 54 Watt Glo, which retails between $169.99 to $199.99, which does not include the lamps, so add in another $50.00 for two T5 Lamps, then factor in that those lamps will need to be replaced a minimum of once a year, and notice the wattage used, which is 108 Watts for the Hagen versus 60 Watts with ours, which is a difference of 48 watts, you'll definitely see that the savings are enormous, not to mention your annual savings. By the way nothing against Hagen, we are great friends with Hagen U.S.A... they too build fine quality products. : )

In essence our light would eventually pay for itself, from the savings on your electricity bill. Plus, just to reiterate our lights our made of solid components, including: CREE LEDs, powder coated stainless steel, high grade aluminum, and are built to last.

A reminder that these units have two separate power cords, which allows the lights to be timed to your liking. Also (optional) the lights can be purchased with a dimmer, sold separately.

    Thanks for the inquiry.

Let us know if you have any further questions, I'd be happy to help answer them at anytime. You may also email us directly at [email protected] 24/7.

    Sincerely,
    Janet / OCReef Staffer

Interesting fixture. Do you have any pictures of the light installed on a tank and operating?

Clarke, I wanted to ask the same question, glad you did though.

edited: Also how many of light fixtures will be suffice for edequate (sp?) lighting of this size?

That would be your preference, depending on your particular aquarium application.

You could run just 1, and it will provide a great spread of light for most corals, or you could run 2 and double your spread of light, again it depends on your particular aquarium.

If you are packed to the gills with stony corals from side to side and from front to back, then you may want to consider running 2 units, however again that may not even be necessary.

If you are not sure, I'd recommend to try 1 unit first, then if you deem necessary get a second.

We haven't produced a 72" sized unit yet, however if we get enough requests for them, will consider making them...

To accommodate your 72" long aquarium, you can run two units together side by side horizontally. They can be hung over your aquarium, they could be mounted to a wooden canopy, or they can be placed on top over a glass top canopy.
