Water salt ration

Hi Everyone

Im sure a million people here know the exact ratio that is needed for fresh water and salt in a 5 gallon bucket to get a .023 reading. Would any one like to share their secrets?

That depends on the brand of salt mix Does the bucket/bag have any instructions?

You will have to figure this out....

Takes me exactly 13 cups of Instant Ocean to get 30 gallons (or six 5-gallon buckets - filled about 4 inches from rim) to get exactly sg 1.025 at 80 degrees.)

Fill bucket...get water temp right...add 3-4 cups of salt mix and test from there, adding measured salt as needed.

Is easier I find, to hit right SG when mixing larger volumn of water (like in plastic garbage can) - which holds 30 gal.

I normally never mix less then that amount.

3 cups of most aquarium salt's I ever mixed will put you close to 1.023 in 5 gallons on average.

i just fill up my bucket that used to hold flooring glue with my garden hose and dump the salt in untill its cloudy.if things look like their going to die i put the garden hose in the tank on high until the corals all close up.i have a spring out back but i've found that water is to cold and alot of work carrying the glue buckets full of water from the back yard to my tank.are fish supposed to grow horns and a 3rd eye?
