| Plankton | Hi All -- Well, I've been hanging out on 3reef for several weeks, now. I've been very interested in starting a nano tank. The 14g Biocube was the size I wanted. But I know myself well enough to know that a failed ballast and poor customer service would really annoy me. So thanks, everyone, for the honest FB on the BioCubes. So I went out and got the 34g Solana, last night, with 20 lbs of Aragonite and 15 lbs of LR. It was late at night, so I couldn't get RO water. LR is soaking in SW. I'll finish setting up today. First question: are there any water purifiers that would work for homemade RO water? I'll post a few pics, in the coming weeks. I built the stand, last night. This is obviously a quality purchase. The stand was double boxed in corrugated cardboard -- very nice. The only hitch, so far, is that when I went to attach the pendant light, the holes for the pendant screws were too small. So the first screw broke off in the wood. I got it out with channel-locks. I'll just redrill the holes ... -- Hanz |

What do you mean by home made RO water? _________ 120G Mixed Reef My girlfriend says that I'm going to hell because I don't go to church, but that's okay, because from what I've been able to figure out, they don't have church there either. | |

| Purple Spiny Lobster | I have the typhoon RO/DI unit from Air, Water, and Ice. It works great, and their customer service is top notch. My unit came with a free TDS meter as well. Make sure you get a TDS meter..it measures total disolved solids in water. When you make RO/DI water, you want to make sure the TDS level in the water that comes out of the unit = 0. If it does not, it is usually a good indication that you need to replace your RO/DI filters/membrane. |

| Plankton | Thanks, Annie3410 and APC. The Dual Home Reef unit for 199 on Amazon looks pretty slick. Currently, I'm running to work to get DI water that we use for chemistry labs. Sounds like I need to check that water with a TDS meter, also. Hmmm, the TDS probably measures current as a result of the presence of ions. I remember reading that absolutely pure water cannot conduct electricity. Cool. |

| Spanish Shawl Nudibranch | If you're going to spend $199, you should definitely go for one of the sponsor's units, Air, Water, and Ice., if it matches with you various needs, they're pretty affordable. For $139 you can get the under the counter tank and ro/di system. |
