| I would wash it out with a bleach solution and rinse well you might want to scrape the glass with a razor too before you wash it ou and make sure it it really clean. I think that a ten gallon will be a great sump for a 55.

| once washed and sanitized it would work good for a sump although in my opinion a touch small for a 55g tank
I would recomend a 20g tank for a 55 sump
the rule I go by is make the sump at least 1/3 of your tank size this way you have 20g of space with 10 g of water in the sump and 10g of buffer space for when the power goes out |

You need to make sure you make room for water displacement that will drain from the main tank. _________ Scott 265g (Peninsula)

| I hate to be the descending vote here but I like a 10 for a sump I use them all the time for 100 or less tanks Gives me room for a fuge . It will hold all the water flow if power goes off. A skimmer and heater fits in it just fine .. The 40 plus Gal flat back hex I set up here when we pulled the 90 down I just used the 10 from the 90 to the 45 FBH tank .. Get a Excalibur in sump skimmer and you would have a good set up IMO anyways .
