sump plans a countinuation( sp?????)

ok so if my 10 gallon will work out i decided instead of like an overflow and a really expensive asome pump, yo jsut get that like clear tubing stuff and have gravity work as a pump from the tank to the sump and just put like one of those mesh things around the tubing so no fish or anything get sucked up in there, and use a maxijet 1200 in the sump, to the tank, and can i put my filter in the sump? or should i keep it up? i know i am deifinatly putting the skimmer down there!

I don't think a mj 1200 will pump it back to the tank.....

i already tested it out and it does it well, i am just using a smaller plastic tube from the tank to the sump
