| a shrimp?!? ok, i know that this might sound weird, or maybe not, maybe its something normal. is it possible for a shrimp to grow on a rock? let me explain: on one of my rocks, in the front, besides all the furry algae, i have this clear shrimp looking creature. it seems to be stuck onto the rock by its dorsal. honestly, it looks like a shrimp. it has the scaley back, croutched up in the front, with all this antennaes or something coming out of the front. this was never there, i saw it yesterday, for the first time. what do you guys think it is? its weird... _________ since 2/16/07: 14Gal. biocube with 10lb of LR, 15lb of LS. 48 watts PC's 2 firefish, 10 hermits, sand sifting star |

| A shrimp should not be connected to a rock. Unless he is stuck there for some reason. They do not grow on rocks. Post a picture of it if you can. May be someone can ID it for you. |

| i tried to take a picture of it, but it simply came out blurry. sorry! however, its been a few days and i think i put two and two together. i think that it WAS a pod. i think that it got stuck or something and died, because its been a couple of days and it has progressively turned yellow, as if decomposing or something. its pretty nasty! oh well, if i could of showed you guys a picture, everyone would have said it looked like a shrimp, it looked identical. then again, as everyone told me, in the process of reef keeping you learn a lot by experiencing it and then feeling pretty stupid. well, there is a possiblity that one day another newbie will ask the same question, and ill be able to tell them its a pod. hehe |

| Youve come to a good conclusion. Good conclusion, you learn from experience and your experience will help others later.
But we still need a picture of that thing so that we can correctly identify it. If you cant take a pic, look for a pic in google or something thatt can more accurately match the one in your tank and let us see, so we can verify its a pod, or a shrimp molt, or whatever. |
