1, do you have a "RO" unit ?
2, how long has the tank been running ?
3, how "curred" was the live rock you put in it ?
4, are you useing "water straight from the tap" and mixing salt in it ?

I will list what is in the tank . I have a sump with 2 ---2000 gph pumps bioballs , 50-60 pounds live rock , a hot magnum canister filter that I put some of that white rock that removes nitrates . the tank has been up for 5 weeks . the life in the tank now is 6 blue legged hermit crabs ,, 2 sea haires , 1 cleaner shrimp , 1 sand filtering star fish . the lobster I started with is back in the florida ocean . I thought he was causing some of this problem .I have live sand botttom 3'' in some places 2'' in others . 3'' in most of tank though

1,Ok bottom.. I will "assume" you bought "near too" curred live rock ok
2, 6 weeks of "up and running" is NOT enough of cycling time for your tank .
( your nitrates and nitrites will be high right now )
3, also have you tested for >
Amonia ?
Phosphates ?
4, now that you have live rock in there now ,>
calcium reading ?
Mag reading ?
SR reading ?
PH and ALKALINITY readings ?
5, ARE YOU taking water straight from the "tap"/faucet in your home ? and just mixing salt with it ?(scratch that) ok

well then its coming from your "Salt".. ive never used coralife .
You might try another brand name . i use "IO"=instant ocean but there are a few other name brands out there that do very well.

I agree I would not use that bucket or bag of salt any more and switch to somthing else

also place a call to the manufacture and tell them the issues you are having maby they will refund your money or better

what kind of tank do you have planned for if this is going to be a reef tank I would personaly recomend oceanic salt(good) or tropic marine(best) or if you are going to do a fowlr tank use IO (instant ocean) I hope this helps

_________

this is my tank thread you can find most everything about my tank here LOL
