Salt Water Aquarium

I have a small salt water aquarium. It has the dim light that you turn on first thing in the morning to simulate dawn, the bright light for daytime & the dim light again for evening. My question is, what is the optimum amount of time to leave the light on for good coral growth. I haven't been doing too badly, but I lost a bubble coral.

There are many factors that coincide with the success of your tank other than lighting! IMO, your lighting wasn't the problem with the demise of your Bubble(plerogyra) coral! It may have been sick when you bought it.
What are your water parameters?
What other corals do you have? What kind of water flow? As Jason mentioned, what kind of lighting and how long has your tank been running?
