Fletch I am probably in the minority here, but I don't buy the 'keep the silt' philosophy. I think someone would be hard pressed to prove that un-rinsed Southdown works better than rinsed Southdown.

It's one of those things that sound good, look good on paper, but if it were a closed experiment, I doubt the numbers between the two would be dramatic enough to justify the freaking pain in the ass dust storms and sump mess.

Not worth it, IMO!

Well Matt, now that you mentioned it, HAS ANYONE EVER TESTED THIS THEORY OUT? [smiley=argue.gif] Has anybody seen a report written on this subject that is backed up by some (Scientific evidence?) It does sound logical that is best to keep the silt as there is silt in the ocean floor! [smiley=idea.gif] But there are a lot of things in nature and in the ocean that are not beneficial to us to have in our reef tanks.
