Quarantine Tank Set Up ??

Okay I will need to set up a qt in the next week or so. The plan is to buy one of those 10 gallon starter kits they sell at Walmart....made by tetra or hagen or something. I have an Aquaclear power filter that I used for my fw when I had it. Can I just buy a new sponge for this and place the new sponge in the return box of my Aqua Remora protein skimmer to develope a bio load for the qt. If so how long do I need to keep it there and how soon after transferring this over to the qt can I add fish? As it will be bb I suppose water changes to keep ammonia & nitrates down is a must. I plan to fill it with water from my main tank on the next water change.....no point wasting salt now is there......

Yes, yes and yes. You know what you are doing. A week should be long enough for a bioload on the sponge.
