Default Pumping just a teeeeny tiny too fast

How's it goin everyone. Well I just need a littttle advice on whether or not I should put a T and valve back onto my water return line. I have a CA 1800 pump going at 635 gph to return the water from my wet dry to my tank. I have live rock rubble as media in my wet/dry and know that it should be submersed in water at all times, right? Well anyways it looks like I'm pumping just a litttttttttle too fast. The wet dry water level goes down about 1 millimeter every 2 hours or so. Should I go ahead and stick a tee & valve back on and just open a little

I ran a Mag18 on a 55g once and I put a T with a just after the pump and would use a valve to return some of the water to the sump instead of blasting the tank with water.
