Pods?

Okay I am set up and introduced a clean up crew. When I look really close I see little bug like things crawling around the substrate. I think these are different sorts of pods that came on the live rock. There is one type that is quite a bit larger and looks similar to a grain of rice? it remains stuck to the glass side, and I am hoping this is a good pod not a bad one. The others are very small about the size of a flea and seem to hop around much like a flea. I sure hope these are good things and not bad........

Pods are good and help to contribute to the creation of an established system. Some of us have built "pod motels" or intank refugiums to give them a place to safely live and multiply and just like in a tank system with a separate refugium tank--they do move around. I would think that even large seashells that are not easy for fish or other pod predators to get into would serve as something similiar--only the pods would have to "hunt" more for their food.

The more you have of these---the more likely you will be to suceed with the more difficult fish like anthias and the like that like to eat live food off of the bottom of the tank. Also makes for good food for sand sifting star as well. It is up to you.

The more I read I think these are isopods. They are very small right now but I will keep my eye on them and see if they become pesky.
