| peppermint shrimp as cleaners My of my two peppermint shrimp seems to want to run a cleaning station, and my yellow tang has been showing some interest in getting cleaned.
Neither seems really comfortable with the arrangement and spook within seconds of meeting up.
First, Peppermints are known more for aiptasia control than parasite/skin cleaning. Should I simply add a Scarlet Skunk cleaner shrimp (or two)?
I've read that the skunk shrimp tend to interest themselves in scavenging food more than cleaning once they're comfortable in a tank.
Are neon gobies a good option as a cleaner?
thanks, |

| I agree with Reef_Guru and Camilsky, Neon Gobies eat parasites like i eat chinese food. I had an ick infestation in my 55gal, and 2 days after adding the $5 neon goby i had no more ick. You just have to make sure you feed it properly, for its mouth is puny. _________ |

| Sounds like a tie. Half of you said "Goby" the other half said "Cleaner Shrimp".
You've made this decision so much easier!
It would be overkill to get both...
I'm leaning towards the goby, though.
I think there would be some competition between the Peppermint and the Skunk for the best cleaning spot.
I do feed lots of frozen plankton, so I don't think the goby would starve.... |
