Default Overflow on the loud side

Is there any way of quieting down the noise from the over flow ? Thought about puting a trap on the drain line any one done this will it work or slow down the water draining to the wet dry to much ? Thanks

what am I getting into ?
5 years with 3 cichlid tanks and a 55 hex fish only salt tank .It's been three years without now it's time for a reef !

put bio balls in yer over flow box where the noise is it works very well

I also agree with bio balls for two reasons; the BB's do reduce the noise for the most part and they also help in biological filtration. Do you have a pre-filter sponge already there?

Just got home from Home Depot working on the Durso drain now . Yes there is a prefilter sponge and it seems to make more noise when the sponge is in place ?

This is just another one of the things in this hobby that drives me nuts ever see this tanks this guy keeps LOL and he must have know a plumber or spent a little time in the trades ? But this stand pipe he hung his name on and tried to peddle as his design LOL is just a Vented wet stack as its called in the plumbing trades LOL and every place with plumbing has one.. LOL Like the clown Carlson in Hawaii who hung his name on a old toilet self flushing unit called Vogel and his case he called it a Carlson Surge device.. Ever wonders why they never patented these great ideas ?

After you finish with Durso set up contact me and I'll explain how it is not a total job and why I say he maybe spent some time in the trades .. LOL he left out some major components that will prevent a flooding situation as had happened about 9 yrs ago when he posted his 1/2 a$$ new invention..
