| Opinion on Holiday Block Feeders Hi again. Next week I am going to go on a scuba trip down here in mexico. My LFS sold me a "7-day pyramid fish feeder". I'm not being esceptic here, but by the looks of it, I don't trust it to feed my fish. Has anyone used this before? Sadly, I can't rely on someone coming home to feed my fish while away. |

| I will be away 5 days. I have a yellow tang (for whom I already attached nori), a flame angel and 5 damsels. |

| I wouldn't worry about feeding while you're gone in that case. Both the tang and angel are herbivors and can feed on the algae in your tank and the damsels can eat whatever copepods they can catch. I would have no qualms using a block feeder in a freshwater tank but I'd think twice about using them in a marine tank. If you really had to feed the fish while you were gone, I'd invest in an automatic feeder. |

| I wouldnt feed them at all they will be just fine and your tank will be cleaner. and you dont have to worry about the food causing your tank to crash.
But now I am Mad I want to go with you I need to go somewhere Warm. and go diving. |

| I use one of these if I am going to be away more then day or so. My fish used to being fed twice a day. Is pretty failsafe, and food amount easily controlled. Automatic Computerized Fish Feeder COMPARE TO EHEIM!!!!!!

| Thanks guys! Just came back from diving trip (Zihuatanejo). I found everything in complete order, and because I left the lights of, my tank is pretty clean. Diving was great and couldn't resist bringing a couple critters back home. I'll post pics as soon as I have a chance to take them. Definately I will buy an automatic feeder for future trips. |

| I agree with the others. Probably no need to feed them at all. YOu can overfeed them a little before you leave and they will fidn food themselves. An automatic feeder is the next best option but I would never use the dissolving feeders in my saltwater tank. I don't know if they are even compatiable for a SW tank but I don't even like them in my FW tank cause they never seem to disolve at the proper rate. |
