| OK Newb question about Sumps? OK so right now i am looking at a 90gal tank that is not drilled what is the best way if posible to build a sump system for the Tank? can you buy overflow boxes then just run the return line back over the top edge of the tank? If this will work what size of pump do i need? i have a 33Gal tank sitting in the basement will that work for the Sump?
Thanks again for your time!

| I had my tank drilled. That 30 would work for a sump. Pump size depends alot on how far up your pumping your water. _________ My Tank Thread...... | Welcome newby, I also have a 90g but mine came drilled. If its in your budget, I would definitely get it done. Its so much easier to work with. The over flow boxes(I had one once) are a pain b/c your return pump cant over pump the over flow box(did that make any sence?). In other words, if your return pump is rated for 1200gph and your OFbox is rated for 600gph, your tank will overflow. Granted, you can install a close valve on the return line, but why? The 33g will work perfectly. I have a 30g as my wet/dry. The return pump that you will need all depends on the lenth that it takes from the sump to the display tank and the turn over that you want. What ever you decide on, do research and take your time, go slow. Nothing in this hobby works in a rush. Good luck and let us know if you have anymore Q's, Luna _________ 9YR OLD 90G/55g custom sump/refug Mag18 Aquac 180skimmer 692w MH AC jr,yel&kole tang, midas&convict blenny,B&G chromies,Blk/yel fin chromie blackcap, nemo, neon goby,6line; Blastomussa Merleti,Acan ,BUBBLE,Torch,LTA, Acropora(2) Moon, assort zoas, yel& G star polyps, P&B ricordia, montiporas, cup&candy corals, xenias,B/G mush, flower ane(2), cherry red mussa, dusters, cleaning crew.. |
