Default Nothing in the Skimmer

Shouldn't my skimmer be producing foam, or at least something?

I have a seaclone. Is that any good?

Is it just because the only thing in my tank is live rock, and that I only put it in 24 hours ago.

That's not uncommon with a tank with just rocks. Skimmers take a while to break in too.

If you go into the skimmer forum and use the 'search this forum' link and search for seaclone you will find plenty of threads on that skimmer including these:

It took me a while to setup up my skimmer just right. Just continue to move the air knob.

There should be fizz on the bottom and foam should eventually build up in the collection cup, but if there is nothing to skim in the water, it won't skim. I think you are not skimming because you are lacking bio-load. Adding fish, inverts and corals will increase bio-load and will jump start you skimmer. Hang in there.

Air knob??

Found it, didn't have a clue. I'm getting some white foam now, and way too many microbubbles.

Yup, you're gonna be fiddling with that thing for sometime, till you get it just right. It should build foam in the cup slowly, if it's filling too fast, lower the air being sucked in by moving the air knob counter-clockwise. If you wanna go up on the air, move it clock-wise.

As they mentioned above it will take some time for the skimmer to get going as you have a small bio-load. As you add things and everything gels, you will notice a froth (usually a brown or greenish color) rising up in the skimmer cup as the bubbles rid the tank of pollutants.

The skimmers working great now, I adjusted it a little and now I'm getting very brown froth. Only problem is now the skimmer is creating millions of micro bubbles. I'm going to open a new tread about the bubbles from the skimmer.
